Irene Murabito

Irene J. Murabito, 96, a former resident of Oswego passed away on December 29 at the Unity Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Berinoto) Cortese and was a graduate of the Oswego High School, Class of 1939.
Irene along with her late husband Samuel were the owners of Raichles Paint and Wallpaper Store.  She was also an engraver at the Taggart- St.Regis Paper Company during World War II.
She was a member of the Oswego Country Club and the Zonta International.
She was avid golfer who once recorded a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at the Oswego Country Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to read and knit and enjoyed taking walks and crocheting.  Irene will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are her daughter, Veronica Braun of Rochester, a son, Thomas (Carrie) Murabito of Erie, Pa., a close niece, Elizabeth Chetney and many grandchildren and step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Murabito in 1995,  her two brothers Dominic and Anthony Cortese, her sister Francis Bradford and a son -in law Donald Braun.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
