Welcome to the memorial page for

Linda M. Mills

August 11, 2016

Linda M. (Tickle) Mills, 75, passed away peacefully on August 11 at Seneca Hill Manor, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Rita (Mitchell) Tickle.

She was a graduate of Oswego High School and had attained certifications and credits in the fields of business and human services at many local institutions.

Linda began her work career as a teaching assistant at Head Start and later moved onto the position of family advocate. Countless lives were enhanced by her kindness and devotion to those she served in her 25 years with the organization.

She contributed much to the local community. She assisted in Habitat for Humanity, gave her time to the development of the Safe Haven and will most certainly be missed patrolling in her famous golf cart during Harborfest,  where she volunteered for close to 30 years. The waterfront will not be the same without her. St. Peter's Church will also miss Linda as she was a steadfast volunteer at the bazzar, and also taught First Communion and Confirmation classes.

Counted among her hobbies were wonderful trips to the Turning Stone on the chartered bus, or with her dear friends Beth and Kevin. In her younger years, she greatly enjoyed attending the races with her father.

She will no doubt be looking forward to enjoying the company of her beloved cat, Big Boy, who left slightly before her.

Surviving are her children, Fred (Kate) Mills of Baldwinsville, Kim (Bruice) Jessup of Coopers Landing NY and Robert Mills of Campbell NY two sisters, Suzanne Russell and Rita Tickle, both of Oswego, two brothers, William (Anne) Tickle of Clinton, Patrick (Alyson Inman) Tickle of Oswego, four grandchildren, Emily, Meghan, Matthew and Farrah, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 at the Dowdle Funeral Home.

The family asks that contributions be made to the S.P. C. A. or Head Start in Linda's name.
