Julie Gailinas Obituary

Julie Trinka Gailinas, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21 in Oswego NY. from natural causes.  A woman known for her strong will and resilient attitude, she was a long time resident of Scituate, MA. Julie was predeceased by her husband, Paul P. Gailinas, in 1993.

A first generation Lithuanian, Julie lived in South Boston, MA., until 1960 when she moved to her beloved Scituate, which she considered her forever hometown. She devoted herself to building and decorating her ideal home at 54 Border Street, creating an exceptional home, rock garden, being part of the business world and enjoying life.

Julie’s first career was in the financial arena, where she worked for Kidder Peabody and Putnam Funds, both in Boston. Later in time, she established herself as a real estate broker with Jack Conway Realty on the South Shore, eventually opening her own real estate office in Boston, aptly named Beacon Commons Realty, a few doors down from the state house.

Following the untimely death of her beloved husband, Julie moved to James Landing, devoting herself to day-trading stocks from her condo overlooking Scituate's North River.  She would often comment about how much she enjoyed her independent lifestyle and the ever-changing views of the salt marshes.

Julie spent the last 4 1/2 years with her son and his wife in Oswego, NY. Her well-being was extended by their loving care and kindness.

Julie is remembered by her children, Paula Caracappa of Port St. Lucie FL, Phil Gailinas and his wife Victoria of Oswego NY, her grand children, Tor Caracappa and his wife Renee of Croton-on-Hudson NY and Brenna Gailinas of Manchester NH, her great grand children, Jet and Mina CaraCappa of Croton-on-Hudson NY.

She is survived by her sister and lifelong best friend, Martha Gaide of South Boston and Martha's children, Robert and Kathleen Gaide, Frank Gaide, Marsha Gaide, Debbie and Tom Healy and grandchildren. Rest In Peace.

Julie's arrangements in New York are under the caring guidance of Dowdle Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held at Cudworth Veteran Cemetery in Scituate, MA., where Julie will be placed beside her husband.
