Constance M. "Connie" McHenry, 97, a former resident of Oswego passed away on May 30, 2019 in Wisconsin.
Born in Merrimac, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Rupert and Alice (Southgate) Cate. She attended Oswego schools and was a graduate of the Oswego High School and the Oswego Branch of the Rochester Business Institute.
Connie was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy WAVES and attended boot training camp at Hunter College in New York City. She was stationed in Washington D.C. and had worked for the Bureau of Navy Personal for almost three years.
She was employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City, the Liverpool School District and Steps & Rails of Syracuse.
Connie was a charter member of the Women in Military Service of America. She also belonged to the Comfort Tyler Chapter of DAR, American Legion #268 and the Auxiliary of the VFW #5885.
Surviving are her brother, Ronald Cate of DeRuyter, N.Y. and her granddaughter, Heidi McHenry of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
She was predeceased by her husband, James "Flicker" McHenry in 2007, her son, Richard Edward and a brother, Richard Cate.
There are no services or calling hours.
