Lefterea R. "Lefty" Murchie, 97, a former resident of the Oswego area passed away on December 11 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Born in Fulton, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Lambropoulos) Robas and was a graduate of the G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton N.Y..
She was employed with the Nestle Corporation in Fulton, then the McDonald's Dress Shop in Oswego and finally at the Palladium-Times in the classified department until her retirement.
Lefty was a member of the Oswego Country Club and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Oswego.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting,and cooking and was an avid Syracuse University basketball and football fan.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Nancy) Murchie of St. Petersburg, Fl. and her twin grandchildren, Michael Tyler Murchie and Megan Nicole Murchie also of St.Petersburg, Fl..
Lefty also leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews , and cousins that have laughed with her and loved her as well. We were very blessed to have her and she will be missed by many.
She met her husband, Robert K. Murchie Jr, while both where working at Nestle's and later married on July, 25, 1958 . He predeceased her on December 5, 1992.
She is also predeceased by her two sisters, Rose (Robas) Kanellis, Helen (Robas) Stathis and three brothers, James Robas, Thomas Robas and Nicholas Robas.
Graveside services will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in the Spring.
There are no calling hours.
