Jennie M. Miner, 92, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Sunday December 31, 2017, at the Morningstar Care Center.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Bendzunas and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

She was the crossing guard at Mrs. Miner’s Corner at East Eighth and Bunner streets for Riley School for many years.

She was also a seamstress who sewed and altered dresses for clients.

Mrs. Miner enjoyed sewing, knitting, square dancing, gardening, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, camping and crafts.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane (John) Keiffer of Canandaigua and Margaret (Brian) Kocher of Scriba; and a granddaughter, Erika Kocher of NYC.

She was predeceased by husband, James Miner; daughter, Mary Patricia Cole; brothers, Frank, George and Felix Bendzunas; her half-sister in Lithuania, Vincenta; and son-in-law, James Cole.

She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and fun loving spirit.

Many generations of people will remember her affectionately from their childhood school days and also for seeing Mrs. Miner at Mrs. Miner’s Corner.

A memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from St.Paul’s Church.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oswego County Humane Society, 29 W. Seneca St., Oswego, N.Y. 13126.
