Eleanor Turner Obituary

Eleanor A. Turner, 94, formerly of Oswego, passed away Friday evening, February 2, 2018, in her sleep at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville where she had been a resident since December 8, 2017.

She was born on September 2, 1923, in Oswego, the daughter of Thomas H. and Mary Elizabeth Burke McGinn.  Eleanor attended Oswego schools.

On November 30, 1946, Eleanor was united in marriage to Joseph R. Turner in St. Paul’s Church in Oswego.  A blessed union of sixty years until Joe’s passing on October 12, 2006.

Eleanor was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Oswego.

Prior to her marriage, Eleanor was employed at Dr. Coogan’s office in Oswego and then went to work at St. Regis Paper Co.  After her wedding, she took on her greatest and most treasured role of being a mom.

After Joe’s retirement, Eleanor and Joe traveled extensively, especially throughout Europe.  Eleanor was very proud of her Irish heritage and always looked forward to St. Patrick’s Day.  Her true pride and joy was spending time with her family; the love between Joe and Eleanor had blossomed into five generations that she was able to cherish.

Surviving are five children, Eleanor (William) Rebello, of Seekonk, MA, Eileen (James) Cappon, of E. Syracuse, Maureen (Edwin) Weiler, of Camden, Richard (Elizabeth) Turner, of Norwood, and Patrick (Cynthia) Turner, of Huntersville, NC; fifteen grandchildren, Brian Rebello, Heather Logan, Mark (Elizabeth) Rebello, Michelle (John) Notley, Matthew (Alicia) Cappon, Michael (Caroline) Cappon, Patrick (Michelle) Weiler, Gretchen (James) Ironside, Colleen Weiler, Kerrie Webb, Ryan Turner, Adam (Kim) Turner, Abbie (Dave) Barnum, Patrick (Mary Grace) Turner, and Sean Turner; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Eleanor was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Young, and Elizabeth Prior.
