Chet A. Fantom, 51, a resident of Oswego, passed away Friday, April 6 at the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Robert and Judy (Farley) Fantom. He had attended local schools, graduating from the Oswego High School.
Chet will be missed at Raby's hardware store, where he helped countless customers for over 30 years. He could always be depended on to help solve any problem for anyone who walked through the doors.
Chet was an avid sports fan. When not taking his friend's money in a fantasy football league, he could be found rooting on his beloved Los Angles Rams.
He was an incredible story teller, leaving those lucky enough to be in earshot in stitches with his great tales. His friends and family remember him as one of the most generous people you could ever meet, always putting others ahead of himself.
Above all, Chet was a family man, who cherished spending time with those he loved. He was devoted to his pride and joy, grandson Mayson.
Surviving are his wife of over 30 years, Kim (Bateman) Fantom, his daughter, Alexa Fantom and grandson Mayson of Oswego, two sisters, Shelly (Tim) Fantom and Wendy Anthony, four brothers, Paul, Bill, Fred (Trish) and Bobby Fantom and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at St Mary's Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 East 4th Street.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. In memory of Chet, be kind to one another.
