Anne K. Stewart, 76, a resident of Oswego passed away peacefully on July 18, 2019 at her home in Oswego, NY.
Born in Rocky Ford, Colorado, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Lucille (Dunn) Knodel. After graduating from Mclean High School, she went to Immaculata College in Pennsylvania on a full academic scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1964.
She married the late Lance Ray Stewart in 1965, and raised a family with 3 boys in the rural hamlet of Middle Grove in Upstate NY.
Anne was an avid runner in the 1970s, reaching 10-15 miles daily, often 7 days a week, and regardless of season or weather. When she wasn't running she was deeply involved in gardening, tending to a 30 X 100 vegetable garden in her backyard that consumed the majority of her days until returning to paralegal work in the early 1980s.
She later moved to California and was employed with the law firm of Miller, Brown and Dannis in San Francisco. She retired in 2010 and moved to Oswego to be closer to one of her sons.
Anne loved to walk; miles every day, and was well known around Oswego seen walking with her red cart, no matter what the weather was.
Surviving are her three sons, Peter (Ayako) Stewart of California, Paul ( Steven Phillips) Stewart of Oswego, Phillip (Staci) Stewart of Chicago, five sisters, Kathleen Horwath of Paso Robles, Mary Nyquist of Oregon, Susan Di Zinno of San Diego, Sarah Spily of San Diego, Ellen Di Zinno of San Diego, a brother, Jim Knodel of Virginia and three grandchildren, Emma, Abigail and Elle Stewart.
