Anita Dennie Obituary


Anita M. Dennie, 94, a resident of Oswego passed away on March 28 at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in Scriba, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Eva (Buske) Jones and had attended the Landing District School and Fitzhugh Park School before graduating from the Oswego High School,
Anita was a homemaker until her husband, Gerald Dennie passed away in 1965, then she was employed with WT Grant as a personnel manager from 1965-1979, JC Penny's and later was the account clerk at the Oswego County Opportunities.
She was a member of the 4-H Club and was the Strawberry Queen in 1940.
Anita was a active member of the Oswego Alliance Church where she served as a Deaconess and Bible studies Teacher. She was also a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Scriba.
She was the founder of the bible study at Simeon- Dewitt Apartments and was a member of the Auxiliary at the Ladies Home.
Anita was also the Treasure- Secretary for the Peck's Cemetery for 30 years.
Surviving are her son, Dan Dennie of Oswego, a daughter Donna (Charles) Cook of North Syracuse, five grandchildren,seven great grandchildren, five nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Dennie in 1965, a daughter, Denise Babcock in 2015 , a grandson, David Babcock in 1982, a great granddaughter, Alexis Secrest in 2006, two brothers, Michael Carl Jones in 2006 and Sherwood Jones in 2007.
Memorial services will be held on  Monday at 5:00  from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00-5:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.         
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Road, Oswego, N.Y. 13126.
