James O. Sullivan

James O. Sullivan, 92, a resident of Oswego passed away on November 22 at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Stephen J. and Agnes L. (Smith) Sullivan. He attended Oak Hill Park School, Fitzhugh Park School, graduated from the Oswego High School and also had attended the Utica School of Commerce.
He was employed with Markson Furniture for many years and was the Water Superintendent for four years.
He was the Alderman for the 8th Ward for 26 years and served under six mayors. He was appointed the Oswego County Elections Commissioner and at one time was the chairman of the Oswego City Democrat Party.
Mr. Sullivan was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theatre during World War II.
He was an avid Notre Dame and New York Giants fan. He was a lifelong communicant of St.Peter's Church.
Surviving are his eight children, Kathleen Wilson of Oswego, Terry (Eugene) Chylinski of Dewitt, James S. Sullivan of Melrose Mass., Elizabeth (Paul) Dinan of Oswego, John Sullivan of Sag Harbor, Mike Sullivan of Fulton, Paul (Amy) Sullivan of Oswego and Tricia (Craig Bundy) Branch of Oswego,  15 grandchildren, Alex, Eric (Naiching Kuo), and Morgan Chylinski, Sara Wilson, Shannon (Kevin Delong) Dinan, Caitlin (Michael) Montagnola and Kathleen (John) Bosco , Lindsay,Logan, Meghan, Jordan and Laura Sullivan and Connor, Shanley and Nicole Branch.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Alice Sullivan, a son, Timothy Sullivan, grandson, James J. Wilson, a sister, Mary A. Wescott and a brother, John C.Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 from St.Peter's Church.
Burial will be in St.Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9.
